San Diego, CA

It's what you've always known and never wanted to admit. While the good people of Minnesota are freezing their buns off, bundling their kids, scraping their cars off, and spending their days indoors where they are more likely to get sick.... the lucky people of San Diego, California are enjoying another beautiful day in a beautiful place. They surf, bike and roller blade down the boardwalk, and may even take for granted the feeling of the sun on their backs. It's true. I'm sorry, but it is. ;)
I've always heard that San Diego is the place to live (which is why it's an expensive place to live). It's beautiful, the summers are pleasant and the winters are even more pleasant (at least in my opinion). People from Arizona go there in the summer to get a break from the heat of the Valley and just about anyone would enjoy a trip there in the winter. Ours was a short trip, but it was a thoroughly enjoyed one. Ahh, sun therapy....

Hiking in Phoenix

They call Phoenix "Valley of the Sun" or just "the Valley" for short and it really is a large valley, surrounded by mountains. We were fortunate enough to go for a hike up one of them. We didn't make it up to the highest point, but we did get to see some beautiful sights.

Shawn took this one of me and Katie:

and this one of me trying to hug the sun. ;)

Gotta love the cactus shots!

Sedona, AZ

I'm spending 3 weeks in and around Arizona to escape part of the harsh Minnesota winter. It's wonderful to have a break and to explore this area. These pics are from a day trip to Sedona. Famous for their red rocks, this area of the country does not disappoint.

A very cute little town and a great place to stop for ice cream...
