Among the Wildflowers

We went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center near Austin. Lady Bird Johnson was concerned with environmental issues and is considered responsible for much of the "beautification" of the freeways and public areas in Texas. There were wildflowers along many of the roads we drove on in Hill Country and in the cities. Thanks, Lady Bird!

Drew and Evan. Evan was kind enough to host us during our time in Austin.
After our walk around the Wildflower Center, we went to The Salt Lick for some Texas Barbecue. It was so yummy! The Salt Lick is located in a picturesque area next to a vineyard. It's in a dry county, but you are allowed to bring in your own six pack if you so desire. Plus, they put real flowers in real cowboy boots on all the tables, so you know they've got to be cool.

San Antonio

We went to San Antonio to visit my Godmother and family for a couple days and had a wonderful time! My Godmother is the best and it was so nice to see them. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend a visit to San Antonio.

The Riverwalk is charming and a great place to spend the day:

And don't forget to see the Alamo:

Drew and little Mama:

The San Fernando Cathedral has had a long and great history in San Antonio. The original church was built in the mid 1700's and is the oldest Cathedral in the US. It holds the remains of Davy Crockett and others that lost their lives at the Alamo.

The cheesy highness of the Tower of the Americas:
