The Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo is quite a place to see! It is the largest seafood market in the world. The ships bring in massive fish (bigger than people) and seafood of all kinds into the harbor and an auction takes place. It literally buzzes with activity. As we walked through, I was determined to avoid stepping on anything I wouldn't like on my shoes and clothes, and more importantly, to avoid falling down. ;) Oh, and avoiding those carts is also important. It is a dangerous place! We were kind of surprised that they allowed visitors to wonder around in there. I guess it is somewhat controversial because the people there aren't fond of the tourists getting in their way when they have so many places to be. It is such a great cultural experience for us visitors though! We did our best to stay out of their way.
Nearby, you can sit at open markets to enjoy some of the freshest fish in the world.
