Blenheim to Nelson

We made a stop in Blenheim on our way to Nelson and stayed there Thursday to Tuesday. Erich and Petra are staying there and found good jobs on a vinyard where Katie and Drew were hoping to work. We found a house with a couple of rooms that we were able to rent. It was a cute little purple house and it seemed to fit what we were looking for, but the jobs didn't work out. Blenheim is a very small town and is surrounded by vinyards. It is the biggest wine growing district in all of New Zealand and home of one of my new favorite wines: Montana.

We really enjoyed hanging out with Erich and Petra taking day trips away from Blenheim. We liked it there, but it was time to move on to Nelson. We have heard that there is lots of work and it is close to the beach. It is also closer to the Abel Tasman National Park, which is supposed to be gorgeous. Nelson has been on our list of places to go since the beginning, so we look forward to spending a couple of weeks here. We hope that Erich and Petra will not be far behing us so we can take some more awesome trips with them. Check out their travel blog: www.erich.hu. Their blog is great and they are traveling all over. After New Zealand, they will go to South America for a few months and I look forward to hearing about their travels in the future. It is inspiring to be around them and to hear about all the places they have been and will go.

We are in Nelson now and have found a place to stay for one week. The first couple nights we were here we stayed at a camp ground (in a cabin). This city is just awesome and we could tell we were going to like it right away. When we drove in, we could see Tasman Bay with mountains in the back ground and the sun was shinning. Finding a place to stay was not as easy as it has been in other cities, which is how we ended up at a camp ground. It seems that it is their busiest season for visitors and many places were booked. But, we ended up getting lucky and finding a place that would offer us weekly rates. We moved in this morning. Drew and Katie are on the job hunt and I'm ready to explore.
