Just over one hours drive outside of Nelson is a beach called Kaiteriteri. It was named one of the top five beaches in the world by The Guardian. Similar to the description I read, it had golden sand and clear, greenish water. The water was so calm; it almost felt like being in a lake back home. It would be a good starting point for a kayak trip because of the calmness and the abundance of islands to explore. Katie and I went there and did a little walking and a little relaxing.
